Garden of the Gods is located just west of Colorado Springs. Dave, Matt and I took a brief walk through the area one afternoon during spring break in 1997, the day before we left for the Sand Dunes National Monument. The cool feature about this place that distinguishes it from most other foothill parks is the line of sandstone fins that juts vertically out of the ground. Some of these fins are more than 100 feet high, while only 20-30 feet thick. We didn't stay long, and for whatever reason, I don't recall very much detail from the trip. It would be a nice place to explore further, but I don't find myself in Colorado Springs with time to explore very often. Maybe after I make my third million I'll have some free time for it. |
